“What an unexpected little gem! I am starting to enjoy bread baking and I hate parchment paper, so I thought I would try a silicone bread sling for my Dutch oven. I chose the Superbaking because i love their banneton proofing basket and boy did I choose well!!! It comes into a super cute package so I instantly put it on my mental list of gifts for the other bakers in my life. It's just the right size (see the pictures). In fact let me add pics at the beginning, middle and end of my bake - OMG THAT CRUST! It worked really well for me! The quality is really premium, because the silicone is thicker than I expected and even reinforced with fiber glass. I bake my bread a little hotter, I went for 250C (500F) on this bake, and my bread lifter held up perfectly, no smell, no deformation. It worked perfectly (look at the bottom of my bread). I saw other reviews that didn't achieve good bottom crust but that's their fault, they put a trivet under the sling for isolation. Not needed with this sling! Just drop it in the naked Dutch oven with your dough and it works! Super easy! Cleaning? What cleaning? It comes out clean :D Wipe it with a towel, roll it tight, SNAP the fun band and store away easily. In fact I wish it had 2 bands, I wanted to keep one as anti stress toy :D”

“This is honestly one of the best kitchen products I have bought on Amazon, I love to make Dutch oven bread, and this sling is a game changer. Prior to purchasing this, I just lined the bottom with parchment paper, which when the bread was finished, I had to use mitts and try to pull it out without getting burned, and baking a loaf a couple times a week, that parchment paper gets expensive. With this sling, I put my Dutch oven in to preheat (so it's at 450 degrees when the bread goes in) meantime I shape my bread on the center of the sling and just pick it up and put it in the preheated pan and because of the unique textured surface, it improves airflow beneath the dough, creating a crispier, evenly-browned bottom crust. Once the bread is finished, lift it out with the handles which are plenty long enough and let it cool. Worked Perfect in my Cast Iron Dutch Oven
“As someone who does a lot of baking, I always look for ways to make cleanup easier. I hate dealing with bread sticking to the bottom of pans, especially since it ruins the nice crust. While I know you can use parchment paper, it feels unnecessarily wasteful. This is one of the reasons I was excited to try these round silicone bread slings in my new cast-iron Dutch oven. Before I go any further into the review, I want to comment on one thing that really impressed me about this little set. I had never seen a company that thought far ahead, especially with their manual. Everything in the set is washable, INCLUDING the manual itself. If you want to have it in front of you during your first baking, it was designed to be easily wiped off with water, being one of those things that I thought was thoughtful and nice, especially for home cooks who save everything. I also loved that they used a little magnetic band similar to an old-fashioned slap bracelet to tie them together for easy storage, making it something you can easily hang or keep. To me, these things were just nice little touches. Now, for the slings themselves. They may be the most durable slings I have tried for baking. While they seem thin, they are very durable and almost rigid when they are in use. This seemed intriguing to me since they seemed almost flimsy out of the package, but were very easy to wash. In practice, though, they were truly perfect. They were not slipping around or moving once they were in my Dutch oven, and the bread stayed put even when I took it out of the Dutch oven without baking. Even more impressive, nothing stuck, creating a perfect crust. They did everything I was hoping for, keeping my cast iron spotless during baking and being very easy to clean. I also tested the bread with one of my higher-temperature recipes. The bread was cooked in a 450-degree oven for an hour in a cast-iron Dutch oven. While this isn't the highest heat, it is one that I have heard some cheaper silicone melt at, which wasn't the case with this one. It kept the bread cooking evenly, and it had the most wonderful crust without sticking. Overall, the sling did everything I expected. My bread turned out perfect and didn't stick at all to my pan, making it perfect in my eyes. So far, having two of the mats, this quality seemed like a great deal for the money (it was going for $9.99 for two slings at the time of this review).”

“I love to cook, though I am not an avid baker. I handle the basics … bread, cornbread, biscuits, an occasional pie. My kitchen is not exactly cavernous, so countertop, cupboard and drawer real estate is always a concern when inviting new gadgets, cookware or gear into the mix. This sling set checks a lot of my boxes, and earns itself an invitation to join the team. Quality: This product is made in China, like almost everything we buy, it seems. But, the quality is very good. The silicon is reinforced with fiberglass making it tough as nails and impossible to tear. That said, keep your sharp knife blades away from it. Like any sil-mat it can be easily cut. Design: There are a number of things I like about the design. The lifting rings (holes) on the two ends of the slings are nice and big, making them easy to get fingers into. Also, even after coming out of a 400 degree oven, within just minutes they are cool enough to touch so you don’t have to fumble with clumsy oven mits or potholders trying to grab such thin material. As you can see in the photos, the round sling fits perfectly in my 3.5 quart sauteuse (think of it as a small Dutch oven) and the oval sling fits in my earthenware loaf pan, although it does come up the sides a little. Not a problem for me, but it is important to note that I still need to use parchment paper in the loaf pan or the bread will stick to the sides. Sling clean up is fast and simple, a little warm, soapy water followed by a rinse. What’s genius here is the addition of the “spring ring.” You’ll see in the photo something that looks like a maroon tongue depressor. It’s actually a silicone coated metal spring. Roll up your sling mats into a tube, put the spring (label side up) across the mats, give it twerk and … “sproing!” … it wraps around the mats like a napkin ring. Genius. Value: In my view, at this asking price, the set is a great deal, because … Bonus: Multitasker alert! The mats can easily double as a non-slip mat for your favorite cutting boards, or be used to protect your countertop (especially when both are used, one on top of the other) from hot pots or pans, like a trivet. Summary: I’m a big two thumbs up.”

“These are very cool bread slings. I have been using the oblong one in my Le Creuset dutch oven and it works perfectly. The width of the sling does not quite touch the sides of the dutch oven. This is not an issue though, the bread loaf fits entirely on top of the sling. I have been putting the loaf on top of the sling to let it rise, which lets you use the measurement markings to track how well it is expanding in size while proofing. There is one tricky part, and that is when using a dutch oven to make bread, you heat it in the oven empty first. Once it reaches temperature, you set the bread (on top of the sling) inside the hot dutch oven. The sling makes it much easier to lower the bread into the dutch oven, however, you then need to move the long flaps out of the way. If you leave them in the "upright" position, they will be under the lid and lift it up slightly. I can't say for sure that it would be a problem, but the point of using the dutch oven is the sealed lid, so I think it's important for the lid to be tightly closed. You can get around this by tipping the two flaps back into the dutch oven. It doesn't seem to interfere with the bread at all. The bread lifts off of it easily so clean up is a breeze. The sling itself is easily wiped down and used over and over. The silicone should last indefinitely. These are a great find.”

“i've been baking my own crusty artisan bread for years now and the method I use involves preheating a 6 quart Dutch oven at a very high temperature and then lowering the bread into the pot using parchment paper. that method can be really tricky and often resulted in me burning my hands on the edge of the pot or unevenly dropping my loaf and therefore knocking some of the air out of it before baking which would create a lopsided loaf. The silicone slings have solved that problem completely. The circular sling fits perfectly into my 6 quart Dutch oven and makes lowering the loaf in and taking it out after cooking an absolute breeze. i'm kicking myself that it took me this long to get around to buying this product. it's incredibly easy to use and the silicone is high-quality and sturdy enough that your loaf of uncooked dough remains in shape as you lower it into the pot. not only does it work well for its intended purpose but it's incredibly easy to clean. I just rinse it off in the sink and wipe it dry with a towel and it's ready to go. I have even used this for a cheddar jalapeño bread or the cheddar leaked out onto this sling and it just slides right off with no problem. this tool is a must have if you are baking artisan bread in a preheated vessel. it's worth every penny of investment and it performs perfectly.”

So it was very confusing to me when on the cardboard sleeve that the slings came in, the care instructions included this line, “Avoid direct contact with hot bread.” That was very confusing. They can be stored flat or rolled up, and there was a flat piece of silicone included which rolled up when bent, to wrap around the slings if stored rolled up, to keep them from unrolling. “I recently started making my own sourdough, and while the bread itself has been amazing, I was getting a little annoyed at having to trim parchment paper down to size every time I wanted to bake. Naturally, I was very excited to give this bread sling a try. I used it to bake a loaf inside an enamel-coated stockpot instead of a dutch oven, and the sourdough came out with a great crust with no sticking whatsoever. Normally, I have to wait for the bread to cool before I can remove it from the pot, but the handles meant that it was easy to take it out right away and transfer to a wire rack. However, I ran into a small issue when placing the bread sling inside of the pot. Even after spending almost a minute trying to readjust the sling, one of the arms refused to stay up and kept flopping over onto the bread. Although my loaf turned out fine, I’m concerned that it could inhibit browning or the rising of less sturdy bread doughs. There is a rather confusing warning on the packaging as it says that you should avoid contact with hot bread. I’m not sure how that's supposed to work since that would defeat the entire purpose of the product. You can’t exactly avoid contact with hot bread when the bread sling is intended to sit underneath the bread as it bakes. Also, I did notice that the QR code provided on the package doesn’t actually link to an instructional video. Instead, it says that the page cannot be found. Regardless, I felt that this was definitely worth the price (listed at $10 at the time). The sling itself felt quite durable, and it didn’t smell after coming out of the oven (an issue that I’ve noticed with other silicone baking tools). It was easy to wash, and I love that I no longer have to deal with the hassle and cost of using parchment paper that I’ll have to throw away after a single use. That alone makes it worth it in my book!”

It was easy to transfer both shaped dough and the fully cooked loaves into and out of the dutch oven. They washed easily, and are easy to store--either hanging or flat. Unfortunately, the heat limit on the packaging says 482 degrees F. We usually cook our loaves at 505 F. We lowered the temperature to use the bread slings, but didn't get the same rise or bottom crust, and obviously the timing was different between a 480 degree oven and a 505 degree oven. It will take some tweaking to figure out the right timing to use these instead of what we are used to.”
