Introducing BakeSide - formerly the Superbaking app
If you've been using our app under the Superbaking name, you'll notice it now has its own identity. Here's why we made the change and what it means.
Why a new name
Superbaking started as a brand built around baking tools — bannetons, liners, the physical stuff that makes your setup better. The app grew out of that, but over time it became clear that what the app does is fundamentally different from what the tools do.
Tools help you execute. The app helps you think. It answers the questions that come up mid-bake, adjusts to what's actually happening in your kitchen, and gets better at helping you the more you use it. That's a different kind of product, and it deserved its own name.
BakeSide isn't a Superbaking sub-product anymore. It's a standalone brand, built by the same team, serving the same community, but with its own purpose.

What BakeSide actually does
Most baking apps give you a recipe and leave you to it. BakeSide works more like a baking partner that pays attention.
You tell it what flour you're using, what your oven is like, how your kitchen runs. When you log a bake, it remembers what happened. Over time, it starts adjusting: suggesting hydration tweaks based on your flour, shifting timings based on your environment, flagging things you might not notice yourself.
Think of it less as an app and more as a friend who's baked a lot more bread than you have, and who happens to know your kitchen as well as you do. You ask it a question, it gives you a straight answer. No jargon, no overwhelm.
It's not about following a recipe more precisely. It's about building the kind of intuition that experienced bakers develop over years, except you don't need a decade of trial and error to get there.
3,000 bakers and counting
We launched BakeSide a few weeks ago with zero advertising. No campaigns, no paid promotion. Just the app, out in the world. Over 3,000 people have installed it so far, which tells us the problem it solves is real. Bakers want something that actually helps them improve, not just another recipe library.
Why it's independent from Superbaking
If you’re an experienced home baker and enjoy experimenting with ingredients, we’d love to hear from you. You can apply to join the testing cohort below. Apply here to join the Superbaking flour testing cohort. This was a deliberate choice. If BakeSide only worked well with Superbaking products, it would be a marketing tool. We didn't want that.
For the app to be genuinely useful, it needs to work regardless of what equipment you own. Any banneton, any flour, any oven. The moment it starts pushing you toward specific gear, it stops being trustworthy. So we separated it.
Superbaking continues to do what it's always done: make great baking tools. BakeSide helps you become a better baker, full stop.
Where we're starting
BakeSide launches focused on bread. It's what we know best, it's where the complexity lives, and it's where most home bakers hit the wall between "following instructions" and actually understanding what they're doing.
We'll expand from there, but the principle stays the same: help you make something you're proud of, in your kitchen, with whatever you've got.
